Passport Transportation Travel Game for Kids

In preparation for our trip to Thailand, I worked on many ideas for travel games for the plane. We had a 21 hour flight here, and I knew I needed as much entertainment as possible for my son..and me! I would guess the typical four year old has a 5-15 minute attention span...and that means lots of toys and games! I created this fun little game called the Passport Game. I made the game out of felt and it required some sewing, but keep an open mind. You could just as easily make the Passport travel game out of scrapbook paper and glue.

Supplies:
Felt one piece each (black, green, red, orange, blue, and white)
Glue (that will work on felt)
Clear Vinyl
Dice (regular or color dice)
Pictures of travelers
Tickets

Directions:
1. I started by making our passports. I cut out a rectangle that was  x   . I then cut four vinyl pockets that were    x   . I sewed on the pockets allowing for 3 tickets in each pocket. The picture below is easier then a full description. (Remember, if you don't like to sew, you could use glue or make the whole passport out of scrapbook paper instead)

The passport allows for 12 tickets. This makes for a fairly long game. Feel free to use less. Because of the stitches that showed on the back I decided to sew another piece of felt on the back in blue.

2. Next I cut a piece of vinyl a little larger then my child's photo. I placed the photo under the vinyl and hot glued it to the front of the passport.

4. I framed it out with green felt to give it a finished look. Almost like a real passport! So fun!

5. The game board itself was very fast to make. I started with a piece of black felt for the board. Then I picked four colors of felt. I cut four large ones for the center and glued them on. I then cut coordinating colored squares to line the outer edge of the board. I glued the squares on as well.

6. The game has four categories: Train, plane, automobile, and the mystery category. I cut out symbols for each of the categories and glued them on the center rectangles.

7. Next, I created game cards for each category. I went ahead and laminated them to preserve the game for longer.
Click here to access the link to print the game pieces.

Game Directions:

Play starts by placing both players in the bottom right corner square. Place each stack of category cards on their relevant rectangle in the middle of the game board. We used candy as our players (game pieces) on the plane. (It makes a sweet treat at the end of the game).

Roll your dice and move your player the appropriate number of spaces. Draw a card that corresponds to the color of square your player lands on. The card will either indicate you gain a ticket in your passport or you lose a ticket in your passport.

Game continues until your passport is full. The first player with a full passport is the winner! I ended up removing some of the minus tickets to make the game move faster. However, I left all of them on the template and you can add and change them as needed.

This game was a huge success on the plane!

Enhance Your Love of Gardening

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Whitney Farms for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Enhance your love of gardening.  Whitney Farms® has a full line of 100% natural plant foods. Their careful blend of organic soil and organic plant food is what makes Whitney Farms® products a true treasure in the rough. If you have spent much time gardening or perfecting your green thumb, you will quickly realize the true impact of organic products over generic commercially available gardening soils. When I tried my first garden years ago it was horrible. I was watering every day, weeding, and I still could not get the results I was truly looking for. My poor tomatoes were pitiful. I am wishing now I had known about Whitney Farms Tomato and Vegetable Food.

The entire reason I was growing my own food was because I wanted the best for my family and little ones. They loved picking cherry tomatoes and popping them in their mouths. I think it is so important for them to know food does not only come from a grocery store. Lately, we have been planting a lot more flowers around our home. My four year old and I planted bulbs just in the nick of time in November and have been enjoying their beautiful blooms. However, my dream garden of flowers would look like this...
It is reassuring to know that Whitney Farms has 25+ years of gardening experience and they pride themselves in easy to apply products, low to no dust, and the inclusion of beneficial microbes. Why listen to me...try it yourselves and find out the true difference of Whitney Farms. Try it with their $3 coupon.

Maybe some day I will have the garden of my dreams when I have more time and older children. If we just keep adding a few new trees and plants a year, our yard and garden will be even more beautiful in no time at all.

Birthday Celebration and #CoronaRita

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Chili’s Grill & Bar for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Well, I just had another birthday and we are planning a girl's night out. My high school girlfriends and I try and get together at least every other month to hang out and catch up on the latest and greatest. Most of us have young children so a nice dinner out to relax can be such a blessing. Our husbands tend to be very receptive because we have so much fun and are always refreshed and in a good mood when we arrive home.

One of my favorite places in town to go eat with the girls is Chili's. They have such a wide variety of food and drink items for everyone. Have you tried out the new CoronaRita at Chili's? Delicious!! When I was asked to write this post I thought, this is the easiest offer I have ever received. I have already tried it and I loved it. What is better then my two favorite items combined...beer (specifically Corona) and Margaritas! The cool refreshing ice cold margarita with the unique blend of a Corona slowly pouring in my drink as I go is perfection in a a glass.

I am laughing so hard right now because my husband asked me what I was writing about it and he said "Yum!" He loves Chili's as much as I do. My husband said that is a perfect reason to go back to Chili's, have a meal with the family, and a CoronaRita. I always smile when we drive by the distinct red chili pepper logo of Chili's. My four year old will immediately speak up and say, "Mom, look there is Chili's! Can we eat there please?!?" His favorite meal items are Chili's macaroni and cheese, corn dogs, mashed potatoes, and chicken crispers. I love that he can look at the pictures on the kids menu and pick out his own meal as if he is old enough to read the menu and order. My husband and I were talking about our favorite menu items and I would have to rank our top three this way.

1. Buffalo Chicken Ranch Sandwich- Crispy chicken with spicy wing sauce and ranch dressing on a sesame seed or wheat bun.
Chili's
2. Crispy Shrimp Tacos-Three flour tortillas with tomatoes, cheese, lettuce, honey-chipotle drizzle and ranch dressing.
3. Quesadilla Explosion Salad- Includes grilled chicken with cheese, tomatoes, corn relish, cilantro and tortilla strips. Served with our citrus-balsamic dressing and cheese quesadilla wedges.
Chili's
What Chili's items do you like best and what do you think of the new CoronaRita?

New Boutique Wine Importers

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of weinherr for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
I always enjoy receiving new offers from Social Spark, because it often brings to my attention subject material I am not familiar with. I just learned that Czech and Moravia regions are beginning to bring Czech and Moravian wines wines to the U.S.A. for the first time. Are you a wine connoisseur? I don't claim to be, but there is something lovely about a crystal wine glasses filled with Boutique wines. It makes me want to sit on a patio, daydream, and relax.
As you all know, I recently visited my sister and her husband in Thailand. They love wine! The hard part is they don't have access to the vast quantity and variety of wine options we have the ability to import here. They will be home in just two weeks, and I guarantee they will be doing quite a bit of wine shopping and drinking while they are here.  We just might have to do some research to see if the Czech and Moravian wines are available near us.

With porch weather in the nearby forecast in Texas, wine drinking will be at the top of our to do list. I am just grateful those crazy tornadoes already passed through our area and better weather is on the horizon.

Stock the Bar Party Invitation

My husband's cousin is getting married in June and we are flying to Mexico for a destination wedding. That is us...and about 30 other people! I can't wait. In the meantime, we are working on planning a Stock the Bar Shower for Matt and a Lingerie Shower for Sara. We decided to do something a little unusual, and have them the same night at our house. I hope to have a dinner on the lawn with twinkly lights adorning the trees. It might be more realistic if I had Martha Stewart's house and financial backing. I designed these simple and classic stock the bar invites for the event.

Ok Sara...you are cheating if you see the invites on my blog before one arrives at your door. (smile)
Luckily, I had a stash of beer bottle caps at my house. I know, I save the most random things. I had them planned for another project, but then this wonderful opportunity arose.

What describes a stock the bar party better then the word BOOZE. It worked perfectly to use two beer bottle caps for the O's. Leave it to my husband, to have some "crafting doubt." He was wondering how I was going to be able to pull off attaching the caps firmly. It was easier then I thought. I used the raised double sided sticky foam and stacked it four layers high. The caps stuck on well without a hitch.

Stay tuned for the lingerie shower invite to come soon.

35 DIY Clothespin Projects, Ideas, and More

I think my newest obsession just might be clothespins. For one dollar you can buy a huge package and they are so versatile. There is something simplistic about the light wood clip invented by the Shakers. They are perfect for crafts, useful as clips, and adaptable to so many projects. I have compiled a list of 30 DIY clothespin projects for the whole family.

Clothespin and an Old Frame by My Blessed Life

CARD GARLAND: Save scraps of holiday gift wrap, and put them to work in a festive greeting-card display. Using a glue stick, coat 1 side of a clothespin; press firmly onto gift wrap. Cut around clothespin with a craft knife to trim excess paper. Repeat on other side. To hang a series of clothespins, clip them to a length of ribbon, and hang along a banister or above a mantel or entryway. Pin cards along ribbon as they arrive.
