Chocolate Bunny Milk

Well, this is a little late for Easter...but so was I.  I bought this to try on Easter morning and in all the excitement I forgot!! We were having too much fun egg hunting, basket hunting, and spending time with family most of all. Well, maybe you can just pin or remember this for next year.

 

 

I bought some chocolate bunnies for 99 cents at the dollar store. I made sure they did not have any obvious cracks in them. A week after Easter we finally tried them out. I used a sharp pairing knife to make a small hole in the top of each bunny. Turning the knife in a circular motion, I carved out a small hole big enough for a straw. I used a small funnel to pour in the milk and we were ready to go!

 

Both of my boys loved it. This might have to be a new Easter tradition for us. At the cost of $1 per child I think I can afford to keep it up! I hope you had a great Easter!!

 

Puzzle Easter Egg Hunt

Our house is buzzing with the excitement of Easter. We have been hiding eggs around the house, outside, and anywhere we can just for the joy of the hunt. My boys will be seasoned veterans by the time Easter arrives. Those plastic eggs are worth every penny. In an effort to change things up, I filled eggs with the pieces to one of our puzzles while my boys were napping.

 

 

I left the empty puzzle box in the Easter basket. When they woke up, they immediately began scouring the house for plastic Easter eggs. They were just excited the eggs were actually filled this time. We knew immediately when we were missing an egg, because we didn't have all 24 puzzle pieces.

 

This would also be fun on Easter Day. Candy is great, but sometimes a little variety is nice too. Do you have any fun egg hunting traditions at your home we can borrow??

Easter Egg Popsicles

I came up with this idea for Easter egg popsicles last year, and my boys loved it. However, I took pictures and then never posted it in time for Easter. I just tucked it away and saved it for this year. My son looks so much younger to me. He saw the picture a minute ago and denied it was him. Ha. He said, "I don't suck on pacifiers." I had to explain to him it was a popsicle and then he suddenly remembered and wanted to make them again. Ok, now on to the easy instructions to make these easy easter egg popsicles.

 

Supplies:

 

Plastic Easter eggs

Popsicle sticks

Egg Carton

Applesauce

Push pin

Skewer

 

Directions:

1. Start by pushing a hole in the bottom of the egg base. I used a skewer next to wiggle the hole big enough for the popsicle stick.

 

2. After I enlarged the whole, I inserted the popsicle stick through the opening..

 

3. I generously filled the top of the egg with applesauce inside an egg carton.

 

4. Top with base as shown.

 

5. Set egg carton in freezer to set Easter egg popsicles.

 

6. Enjoy!

 

These popsicles are so fast and easy to make. My boys both loved them. And on top of that, they are so inexpensive. They would be a great addition to an Easter party or event.

My Basket's Full! (Easter Game)

Oh yeah...another fun Easter game. This one only takes 2 minutes to make. I Promise! Our house is a buzz with the joy of Easter in the air. I had to fit in another quick project with only a few days to go. I swear my four year old is getting so rotten. He wakes up and asks me what we can make when he gets home from school. Even if I tell him one project idea, he quickly responds..."And what else?" Ha! Today's project was the My Basket's Full! Easter Game.

Supplies:

Egg carton (1)

Scissors

6 different colors of plastic eggs

Scrapbook paper

Tape

Colored Dice

Directions:

1. Cut the lid off of your 12 count egg carton and then cut the carton in half.

2. Use scrapbook paper to cut a handle for each egg carton basket. Tape to secure handle.

3. Gather your plastic Easter eggs and dice. If you don't have a colored dice you can tape or modge podge colors on a regular dice or wood cube.

How to Play My Basket's Full!

The youngest player goes first. Let him/her roll the color dice. Select an egg that corresponds to the color rolled, and place it the basket. Play rotates back and forth. If a player rolls a color of an egg they already have in their basket, they do nothing, and play returns to the opposing player. The first player to fill their basket with all six colors yells, "My Basket's Full!"

We kept a separate bunny egg, pictured above, with M &M's in it. The winner of each game got to eat one. Talk about motivation!

My husband and son played it as a team sport against me and my youngest son. They won the first two games in a row. and this is them gloating their win! Lol

Such serious competitors...but I won round three!!

Easter Crayons...and Dog Surgery

I am sure you all have all seen how you can make your own crayons...but have you ever actually done it with your kids. It is so fun, and with little ones, it is a great way to practice colors. My boys have their Easter parties at daycare tomorrow, and we thought we would bring crayons for all the kids. I am lucky to get tons of second hand crayons from my mom who is a Kindergarten teacher. I have huge Ziploc bags full of them in my craft stash.

Supplies:

Crayons that want a second chance at life

Lil crafters

Oven

Directions:

1. Start by removing the wrapper from your crayons. I have found the fastest way is to let an adult handle this part. I run an exacto knife down the crayon lengthwise, and the wrapper will come right off. Remember, it does not matter if you cut into the crayon, because you are going to melt them anyways.

2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Next, I let the kiddos help me break the crayons and put them in the desired mold. We used a Wilton mold to make these Easter crayons. Laying three colors per egg gave us a neat look when they were done.

3. I like to place my mold on a flat baking sheet with no raised edges. "Bake" in oven for 8-10 minutes until crayons are melted.

4. Remove crayon mold from oven to cool. Once cooled, pop your little crayons out.

Our crayons were so vibrant that you can hardly tell the difference between the plastic Easter eggs and the crayons.

As you can tell, we have tons of different pets at our house. My poor little Cocker Spaniel Mia, who is 9 years old, hurt herself before I left for Thailand. They thought she damaged her knee, but said to give her two weeks on pain meds before we did anything. MRI's on dogs are almost the same price as surgery. She still had not improved so I took her back to the vet today. They feel she has a torn ligament and meniscus. I have to drop my poor baby off in the morning for major knee surgery. I feel for her, because I have had four knee surgeries myself, and there is nothing fun about it. I also feel bad because animals can't talk and I know she is in a lot of pain. She is tougher then I ever was. Here is a picture of my little one loving on her tonight while eating cookie dough batter.

Mia is sooo sweet. If I hurt, I would not want a chubby little boy laying all over me. Lol!

Guess Me Printable Easter Game

Easter is sneaking around the corner. We started the Easter fun tonight and hid eggs in the backyard. My boys don't seem to tire of the hunt. Who says Easter only lasts one day? It normally provides weeks of fun at our house, but the early April Easter date is throwing us off. I have several projects yet to do. We made this silly little game a few weeks ago and we often play it at the dinner table. I call it Guess Me? The boys love it!

The best part of this game is the supplies are inexpensive and relatively easy to come by, and it can be used for children of all ages. I started by gathering Easter clip art and compiling it together. I wanted easy to guess pictures that could be quickly deciphered from clues. I started with Easter eggs, baskets, candy, a cross and more.

I cut out the Easter clip art and folded each picture up and placed it in in a plastic egg. The first player starts by selecting an egg from the bowl. Another player, helps open the egg and remove the Easter graphic without the first player viewing the picture. The first player holds it on their forehead as seen below. Then, other players give clues until the player guesses who they are.

We even had Dad playing, but as you can tell, he is not a big fan of my obsessive photo taking

Even, my 2 year old wants to get in on the action. We just keep two containers of clue filled eggs on the table for our Guess Who Game. Eggs that have already been solved,are transferred from the first container to the second.

On a funny note...

I was completely amused today when our baby goat Valentine, jumped in the nesting box to rest. Her neighbor, Gertrude the chicken, was not sure what to think!

Easter Bunny Cupcakes

I originally saw a version of these cute cupcakes in an All You magazine several years ago. I thought they were precious. I made them last year, but thought I would share them again. The boys and I just have so much fun making these adorable cupcakes.

Supplies:

1 12oz can vanilla or cream cheese frosting

12 cupcakes

1/4 cup pink decorating sugar

12 marshmallows

24 thin pretzel sticks

12 mini marshmallow

24 M&M minis

12 pink candies (for noses)

6 black licorice laces

Coconut (optional)

Directions:

1. Frost the cupcakes. Roll tops in coconut if desired. I opted to delete this step.

2. Place pink sugar in a small bowl. Using scissors, cut large marshmallows in half crosswise. Press cut side of each marshmallow into pink sugar to make ears. Insert a pretzel stick into marshmallow ear. Insert other end of pretzel stick into cupcake to make ear stand up.

3. Cut small marshmallows in half. Use small dot of icing to stick them on as cheeks. Use the same technique to apply nose and eyes. Cut licorice in 1 1/2 inch pieces and insert as whiskers.

This poor bunny did not stand a chance!
